Mother's Legacy adopts a school encouraging  environmental action and revitalizing the earth 


 

Environmental

  • The air, water, and land in or on which people, animals, and plants live:

  • Everything that makes up our surroundings and affects our ability to live on the earth.

 

Action

  • An activity that intentionally addresses an environmental problem, need, or hazard, either directly or indirectly.

  • These could include changes to social or human systems, natural systems, or the built environment. 

  • Examples:

    • Protecting our environment from polluters

    • Saving bees (stopping the harmful uses of the pesticides that kill bees and promoting the planting of bee-friendly habitat)

    • Adopting pro-environmental behaviors, such as turning off water while brushing teeth, buying an electric vehicle, investing in a solar installation for their house, carpooling or biking to school or work

    • Community action

      • Mobilizing community involvement to an environmental issue of concern

 

Revitalizing

  • Returning a contaminated site to more natural conditions

  • Restoring nature

  • Replanting trees

  • Halting pollution,

  • Reducing and treating waste

    • Reduce, reuse, and recycle

Health

  • What does healthy earth look like?

    • Biodiversity

    • Clean air

  • Healthy environments support healthy people

    • People and the environment are interconnected

      • Example: link between air pollution and respiratory issues
